The last few months of pregnancy were tiring (ok, pretty much the whole pregnancy was tiring) and I really enjoyed not blogging. But since my little Kiddo has been born I've been working on a number of things. Some interesting and some not. Hopefully you'll enjoy reading about some of them : )
A couple other exciting things besides having a baby.
1. We moved to a bigger apartment so I have LOTs more craft space (I have 2 desks now) and more than twice the floor space! Oh, and a big kitchen with counters!
2. We now have an oven! No more toaster oven creations anymore!
3. I stopped working! Yay! Ok, maybe not so exciting, but I am glad to stay at home with Kiddo. It is an adjustment though.
Ok, now on to something more interesting than my life. Here is something I made : )
(Um, please don't judge my pictures. I has been SO HOT here that we are living in our living room. That means no natural light : / )
In college my roommate bought me a beautiful leather bible for my birthday one year. After having trekked half way around the world with it the beautiful cover was starting to get a bit worn. I decided it was time for a cover.
| (I don't know why this picture is turned this way) |
It was a quick and easy hand sewing project that only took me about an hour to finish.
I used the pattern from fabric I bought in Hong Kong around the outside. My hope is that it frays a little bit over time for an unfinished look. We'll see how that goes.
The one long rectangle is folded over at the edges to create a pocket that I can slip my Bible into. Easy, and that way I can change it if I ever want to.
Here is the design all the way around.
I love the way it turned out! This would be a great way to cover any book that you want to preserve. I made a similar one for my husband's Bible out of a suede (left over from our couch). The fantastic thing about his is that the fabric doesn't fray so I didn't need to hem it! Hope you feel inspired!
