A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.

Sweater refashion take 2- Long to Short

I actually wrote this a few days ago, but am just posting it now.

So, I got off work a little early today and decided to sew (after folding the laundry and sweeping the floor). I worked on the never ending couch covers and then got bored (again). I've been reading this great blog about making new styles out of old cloths, so I decided to give it a try today. I forgot to take a picture of the first sweater, sorry.

The  sweater was way too long for my large behind, so I wanted to shorten it. You can kind of get an idea of how long it was here. I cut off 8 inches.

I had a hard time trying to figure out how to finish it off. The material was a really stretchy knit so I didn't want to put a traditional hem on it because it would tweak out funny. I thought about folding the old ties that I removed over the bottom to make a bias, but that ended up being to heavy.

In the end, I zigzagged along the bottom. At first I was afraid that it would look strange being all ruffly, but doing that gave it a very nice feminine look.

The buttons on the sleeves didn't really match either, so I took them off and ruffled the sleeves.

These are some good picts of the finished product. Much shorter and looks great! (Sorry you have to look at my big bum to see it!) Im not the best at photo shoots.

In an effort to be thrifty, I used the old ties to make a headband, then pinned my felted crochet flower to it.
