Washing Delicate Fabrics

Remember all that chiffon fabric that I was given? Well, it was really dirty. I looked up online how to wash it and there were some good ideas. I decided to just throw it in the washing machine to see what would happen. Well, our washing machine door broke, that's what happened. Needless to say, I have fabric stuck inside the washer for 3 days because I can't get the door open... guess I'll have to wash a different way.

Here is what I did (and what eHow recommended...basically)

I started with a large pot of hot water.

Added just a few drops of my normal detergent.

Put the fabric in the water and gently agitated with the wooden spoon.

Put the fabric into a noodle strainer and rinsed in cold water. Squeeze the fabric (don't wring or twist) and allow extra water to drip off.

Hung the fabric on my drying rack.

and had my fan blow the fabric dry. (today was a really humid day, so I didn't think it would dry very fast.)

Yeah, clean fabric : )
