Reversible Bag

Since we leave for our trip to Thailand in 3 WEEKS (!) I decided that I needed to make a beach bag. Although my attempt at Very Purple Person's Reversible Bag didn't turn out great as a beach bag, I now have an awesome new purse/tote/thing to carry my TP and water in : ) 

Outside is a beautiful pattern that I picked up at the market on a whim. I've ended up making a lot of beautiful stuff out of it!

Inside (or reversible to outside) is a complimenting dark purple. It is my favorite, most luxurious cotton that I have ever seen : )

I like my bag very much! Although the tension was driving me crazy on my machine while I was sewing it... I had to stop every few stitches.. grr.

The pattern was simple and easy to understand. I only looked over the tutorial briefly, but it was helpful with great pictures! It only took me about 2 hours to make, including all my sewing machine drama.

I did make one alteration: I wanted a larger bag than what was on the pattern, so I added about 1.5 inches to the middle of the bag. Because you put the pattern on the fold, it ended up being about 3 inches total. I like more space, because I can put larger things into the bag. And because the style is simple, it has a really wide mouth so I can put books and folders in it.
