~Sigh~
Sometime this cooking in Korea thing is not all that fun : (
Pretty much any time I want to make something new, it takes me at least 3 times before it's actually good. It's hard because it is difficult (not impossible, but difficult) to find at least 1 ingredient in every recipe I want to make. Because of this, I'm always substituting and changing things. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. My hubby is a real sport and eats all the crazy things I make.
For example, today I wanted to make monkey bread. YUM!
The only way I've ever seen it made is with canned bread. Like the kind you hit against the counter and it makes a loud POP!
Well, at least in my neck of the woods, I can't buy pre-made bread. So, I figured I could use a regular from-scratch roll recipe. My first try came out ok, but the bread was really dense for what I wanted. And the brown sugar was too strong. ~sigh~
Maybe a few more tries and I'll find one that I like : )
EDIT: Um, ok, so I just re-read this post and it sounded kind of whiny. That is NOT what I am trying to do! Sorry! I am so super thankful that I CAN find chips and salsa sometimes! That I DO have a toaster oven that I can bake things! That I can find meat and veggies in forms that I recognize! I'm just trying to share what it's like for me to live here. I'll make it a point not to be so negative : )
