I started working on this project in July... and finished it in January. SHAME!
It wasn't really difficult, but it was the first time I had done anything like it, so I kept putting it off. I am so glad that I finished it!
In July I started piecing together all of the top pieces of this blanket. At the time, I really wanted to do something by hand, so all of the piecing is hand sewn. After I finished sewing all the pieces together I was stuck. I wasn't really sure what I wanted it to be or how I should finish it. The blanket was too narrow for a couch blanket, too long for a lap blanket, and too small for a bed blanket. Basically, I had made a really oddly shaped piece.
And then I had the inspiration (6 months later) to put this crazy pink and purple flannel on the back and bind it with bias tape. But what would I do with such an odd blanket? USE IT IN THE CAR!
Because it's such a weird blanket anyway I won't mind if it gets dirty or wrinkled. I didn't quilt it or put batting in it, so it's thin but warm. We can use it if we go to the beach, a picnic, if our car is cold. It's pretty much perfect for that use.
Not only that, but it has given me some confidence that maybe someday I can try this whole quilting thing.
Thanks for stopping by!
