Why buy a new bag, though, when I can make one for free! And get everything I want!
After church last week, a friend gave me this skirt that she was going to give away.
As soon as I noticed the snail pattern, I decided "this is perfect for a bag!"
I decided to try making the bag with no pattern. I did use my previous bag as a template (just by looking at it) and making the new bag a little bigger.
Although I'm not 100% finished the basic structure is complete. I unfortunately only had one color fabric. I really would have liked to off-set it with a cream, pink burgundy, or black, but I literally didn't have any other fabric that would work. I did try making some pockets with an old pair of blue jeans, but they didn't look very good.
I also should have put interfacing, or some kind of thick material between the fabric to make it sturdy. Again, I just didn't have any, so I went without. The bag is a little flimsy, but once I put all my stuff in it, it should be ok.
TADA! New bag!
So cute! I still have some things to do though. 1. I need to find a piece of cardboard/plastic. something sturdy to put in the bottom. Right now the bag just flops over. 2. I need to sew up the inside of the bottom. 3. I might decide to do a little top stitching to add support. We'll see how many of those really get done : )
I decided to tie the tops because I thought it would be cute.
That is beautiful, girl!!
