A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.

Cheerleader Rug

Yeah! I finally have time to write a post!
Our bathroom rug is gross. When we moved in our apartment came fully furnished... including a rug outside our bathroom that used to be white. Now it's gray. Gross.

Here's the problem though... Eventhough I could buy a rug at the store for like $2, I'd have to get something SUPER cute.. like Hello Kitty. So I decided to make one.
The end result didn't come out that much less cute than Hello Kitty (it kind of reminds me of highschool cheer leaders), but I like the concept a lot.

I actually wanted to make this rug that I saw at the Busan Jin market.

Awesome.. no problem.. .except my machine stopped ruffling fabric. Something I did screwed the tension up and my thread kept breaking... so I had to give up and go to Plan B.

TADA
I think Plan B turned out alright. It is definitely a prototype (eventhough we're using it as the actual rug) and I would make it nicer next time. (The colors are crazy because I was trying to use some of the scraps that people had given me!)

I was going to take a bunch of pictures and show you just how I made it but... let's just say Life happens.
If you want to see how I made the fringe part I used the same concept for the  Shag Pillow over at V and Co.

I made the rug by putting two pieces of fabric (I used old curtains someone gave me) right sides together and sewing them to a piece of batting. Then I turned the rug right side out and sewed the fringes on. I chose to sew the fringes on after I made the rug for a couple of reasons. 1. I didn't really care if you could see the stitching on the other side because it was my first try and I wasn't sure if it would work anyway and 2. I didnt' think about sewing the fringes on first (like the Shag Pillow) until I finished the rug. I do think that if you wanted to copy this concept, you could totally buy a cute cheap rug (or use your old one) and hot glue fringes in a line to it. No Sew!

That's about it for this one! I won't post on Sunday, but I'll be back on Monday!
